Sometimes I look at my bird and think, what a life it would be. I like to believe my girlfriend and I are pretty good to a pet that should be outside flying around with his flock. However, if Sal was to get out, he would be dead pretty quick, seeing as British Columbia isn’t his natural habitat; so we let him rain over our apartment on a daily basis. He rarely ever sees the inside of his cage with a closed door behind him and he also enjoys whatever he wants when he wants it. Sometimes I wish I could say the same.

Golden
Posted in Landscape, Still Life, Wildlife on June 17, 2008 by Greg MillerThis past week, Snorri, Matt and I went up to Gold River and Nootka Island for some open water fishing and stock photography. I arrived a couple of days earlier, so I had the chance to get 36 holes of golf with my buddy, Temple. The Gold River golf course has always been my favorite. The river runs beside it and the course itself is awesome, big elevation changes, wildlife, and best of all no line ups.
Snorri and Matt got to Gold River on Tuesday night and we headed out to Nootka Island the next Morning. We stayed the night in a cabin at Friendly cove, which was unreal. When all was said and done, we caught a 14lb chinook, 14lb ling cod, two 8lb snappers and a 41lb halibut. It wasn’t easy coming back to Victoria after a trip like that.
Keep Your Head Up
Posted in Wildlife on June 2, 2008 by Greg MillerOver the last 10 years I’ve been fishing out at Viner Point, which is at the southern tip of Read Island. Eagle’s fly over head all day, but these eagles are different. Countless times I’ve been letting fish go from the side of the boat and WHAM! a eagle hits the side of the boat or skips off the motor, sometimes they even get a piece of your arm. These birds are so aggressive they’ll come right for the fish whether your there or not. Viner Point is one of the most enjoyable places to fish, just because of the surroundings. If the fish aren’t biting maybe something else is.
